He looks down at his small allies, a paternal fondness shining through his 'command' voice, "I'm afraid I'll need to excuse myself for the moment -" and he addresses one of the older kids - "I trust I can leave command in your capable hands?"
Once he gets a firm nod in response, he gives one more smile back as he claps his successor on the shoulder. Then, he steps over the snow toward Deanna, addressing her once more, "I hadn't realized anyone else from Starfleet was here."
