standsentinel: (starfield)

True to Piotr's assessment of him, Kaidan doesn't stop his work just because he's gotten an answer. He does dip his head in return for the nod in a way that suggests he does in fact know how to give a proper salute, and likely would if they weren't both off duty in the stables.

"Never had the chance," he confirms, as another pile of manure gets flicked into the bucket. "My grandparents had a place in the BC Interior that I'd visit as a kid -- mountains to either side, lots of orchards and vineyards in the valleys. Their neighbours had a few, but I was shipped off to a space station before I could do more than watch them run. After that, being in the service... well, I've probably seen more large alien animals than ones from Earth. At this point, I'd be a fan of horses for the fact that they don't spit acid at you alone."

From the hand that automatically brushes up against a chestnut nose sneaking in from the stall behind him, the equine contingent of the camp is well on its way to claiming another devotee. Horses, with a shared fondness for calm and quiet, not to mention their use as biological ATVs, are unexpectedly interesting. (He has yet, it's to be noted, actually be up on one.)
