The Cetagandans may be human, but they're also clearly aliens. It's obvious to Daryl, but also not really a point he feels like arguing to the little sister-in-law to the guy in charge of their particular anthill. Piotr is rough and honorable in his own way, sensible as anyone in a ridiculous war can be, unflinching and driven. Daryl doesn't trust him for a minute.
