Charlie initially isn't happy to be told to accompany the girl out to forage for plants. She's got things around camp she needs to tend to, and is pissy at the men who feel like Beth needs someone to watch after her just because she's a woman. She's got half a mind to turn back and go yell at the assholes who think that the other blonde isn't capable of fending for herself. But the longer she walks with Beth in a companionable silence, the more she reminds her of Danny. It's just in appearance alone at first, though as they get to talking idly the girl's mannerisms and general way of speaking reminds her too much of her dead little brother.
"What's left on the list?" She wonders as she gathers up a bundle of the plant they've just tracked down.
They've been out for hours and probably should head back, but Charlie's pride won't let her go back until they've collected everything. She wants Beth to be able to hold her head high as she walks back into camp, and to let everyone see what she's accomplished with a day of hard work.
