CHARACTER INTRO: Beth is a nice teenager from Georgia who survived the zombie apocalypse right up until she didn't. She loves babies, singing, friends, and trying not to be catatonically depressed. Her permissions page has some first-impression deets as well as the thematic material her character deals with. Some of it is kind of dark.
STATUS: Beth's been a Barrayaran for what, three months now? This month has been low-key for her, between
CR YOU WANT: I'm interested in positive CR, negative CR, and the complex in-between. In general, I prefer CR that has some kind of goal or tension behind it. I think it'd be interesting to get some "can we trust each other, yes or no" stuff going on with some Ceta characters in April, since Beth has met most of the Barrayarans. Characters close-ish to her age/general level of maturity are of particular interest--she's the youngest character in the game at this point, and it feels like most of her CR is 10-15 years older than her, lmao. I want to make sure her CR is varied, since I think that'll lead to more interesting potential team-ups in the future. ♥
CR YOU CAN PROVIDE: She's a deceptively capable teenage girl who's willing to teach things (there's a list of stuff she knows over in last month's cr meme), often interested in learning, really easy to argue with, interested in dating, and sympathetic towards sad things. There are a lot of options, and a lot of potential for CR to sit awkwardly between affection and antipathy if that's the kind of thing you like. I'm happy to talk out all kinds of ideas if you are, so hit me up.

CHARACTER INTRO:

Mr. PTSD himself, Killjoy "Wet Blanket" McBuzzkill, Guilt Issues McGee and Grudgeholding Motherfucker. Wash is a space marine who's been through some shit and has learned to associate honesty and trust with certain death, and he's as bad at making friends as he is with keeping them. He has mostly learned to put his past behind him, keyword mostly, and he's found peace with how damaged and fucked up he is by, uh, embracing it. He's pretty good at acting like a normal person though, if a kind of boring, awkward and cynical normal person who's almost too much of a pragmatist. Loyal and insanely protective to the few people he trusts to a fault, but honest essentially never.

STATUS:

Initially arrived with the Cetagandan side, hated everything, defected. Has no real plans of going home, though he won't tell you this, or uh anything for that matter look he doesn't like talking about himself. Most recently has been on two spectacular failures of missions and he came back from one unconscious! It wasn't even the first time he's been carried back here unconscious. I swear he's actually perfectly competent. He's been learning about horses, swords/archery, trapping, Russian, and general Barrayaran culture/history.

CR YOU WANT:

Wash isn't 100% closed off, but only because he's learned that being that closed off just attracts attention, and he usually manages to strike the perfect balance between distant and amiable to avoid attention. He doesn't really let anyone in, and any characters who can break through his defenses one way or another are A+. This includes breaking through them in negative ways, though be warned that Wash tends to take negative relationships to, uh, extremes. He holds grudges like a motherfucker, like, his mom called him out on this even when he was a kid. I'm all for negative CR tho but fair warning.

CR YOU CAN PROVIDE:

Idleness is death when it comes to Mr. Washington. He likes learning new things and dedicates himself to them with regimented meticulous discipline and incredible fervor, and anything you have to teach him he'd most likely readily learn. He has an extremely precise near-photographic memory and is a quick learner, and makes up for he lacks in raw ability and talent with sheer studiousness. The one thing he likes more than learning new things, aside from like beating shit up and being a terrible person, is teaching. He's a capable soldier, and while he's learning himself with swords and archery he specializes in knife-fighting and is very good with unarmed close quarters combat. He is also a spaceman and will teach you about space if you really want, and he knows random things like how to braid hair?? Also Wash is just in general like an extremely paranoid spaceman, and if anyone wants that on your case, please hit him up.

• OUTDOORSMAN: at this point daryl is teaching 4? 5? people how to hunt and trap and track in the wild. he's basically resigned himself to teaching whoever asks, and he's probably gotten a reputation around camp as a hunter at this point. it's totally reasonable to just have your character walk up to him and ask for tips, if you want. or really whatever you think is best, if you want your character to levelup for living in the great outdoors
• FIGHTER: did i mention daryl wil fight you. because he will. he so will
• LIFESAVER: daryl is gruff and mean and petulant but if he sees someone in trouble (and they're not cetagandan) his first response is always to help them. he will pull anyone out of a bad spot, drag them to safety, or fight by their side if it's clear they need a hand. no questions asked, no negotiation needed.

CHARACTER INTRO: Extremely fixated on order and structure, Symmetra was scooped out of the war-torn slums of her hometown as a kid and brought up to be fixated on the idea of constructing a perfect world for people to exist within. Of course peace and security usually come at the cost of freedom and individuality, but isn't it better to be safe and comfortable? She's autistic, a little awkward socially (usually masking that with a 'too good for you' attitude) and not terribly empathetic, but she's got a good heart and means well.
STATUS: Current title holder of 'taking all these shenanigans better than anyone else', she's super-involved with furthering the Cetagandan effort to build dat Star Gate. Her experience with hard-light tech and her extreme levels of cooperation have her in good with the Cetas, and she still sees absolutely no reason to divert course. Someone wants to go home while the rest of you stand around playing at war. :|

CR YOU WANT:

ANTAGONISTS: By which I mean, people to antagonize her and keep her from growing too complacent. Challenge her way of thinking. Instigate debate, provoke questions. Deep down, she knows she should be exploring her options, but indoctrinated behavior is a bitch to break away from.
FRIENDS: Tall order, because she is kind of aloof on the best of days, and she's better with science and dance than people. MOTHER HEN: Is your character messy? Prone to injury? Do they need someone looking after them while they do their best to ruin this very fine opportunity they have here? Are they likely to try and run away? If you want a counter to bad/careless behavior, whether your character wants one or not, Symmetra is here. And she is so ratting you out, given half the chance. It's for your own good.
QUIET BUDDIES: You know what's great? Quietly exercising or meditating to focus one's thoughts in a chaotic situation. It's even better with other people that you can settle in and enjoy the quiet with. No, really. You should come try it with her. There's something to be said for silent co-habitation.

STATUS: She's a stressed out queen, who has taken to adopting half the Barrayar's side and anyone she perceives not to be a total waste on the Ceta side. After getting FastPentad and her perfect daughter Satya working for them, she wants to kill every last one of them. Basically, this war sure did get personal to her... even more so. Additionally she's very close to Miles and Maine. She has a very good arrangement with Washington in which she dodges every conversation with him and about him and walks out whenever he's around. She's also low key appointed herself keeper of the Vorkosigan famil.
CR YOU WANT:
- Challenge her, make her actually talk about things. Lakshmi has a bad habit of shutting people out. At the very least she can tell some hella war stories from fighting werewolves.
- Negative CR, I would love this but I have to add the proviso that she's not the kind of take serious opposition lightly and if someone gets in her way too seriously, she will straight up stab them. THAT BEING SAID, snarky arguments? Hella yeah, she's the most snarky in turn and has a bad habit of ordering everyone around her about.
- She is but alas, a 1800s baby, and even though she's used to some weird tech, thanks Tesla, she still doesn't even know indoor hot water is a thing you can have. Please feel free to teach her some shit.

CHARACTER INTRO: Tucker isn’t exactly like the other people (i.e. Freelancers) from his world. Talkative, crass, constantly a flirtatious horndog, first impressions probably aren’t his friend. However, after the initial bump and probably some choice sexual innuendos, sometimes he can grow on you. He’s going through some stuff right now, is a little on the down side, and he really, really just wants to go home to his team and his alien son.

STATUS: Tucker has adjusted as best as he could. He doesn’t exactly like some of the stuff going down on this side of the word (public starvations and chucking body parts aren’t part of his moral grounding), and the way they treat women surprisingly annoys him; most of the women he’s know can kick his ass, after all. He’s been talking to Symmetra on the other side who’s challenging a lot of his beliefs and giving him a crisis of faith which Wash has had to deal with. On the brighter side, he’s got a good friend-thingie-something with Sonia, which eases some of the other BS coursing through him and proves that he can be kinda sorta decent sometimes.

CR YOU WANT: Support systems - Either being one or receiving one. Tucker, for all his running at the mouth, isn’t bad at the listening.
Conflict - Physically or mentally. I love when people can challenge his sense of belief and shake the ground under his feet.
Parents - Talk to him about your kids! Or kids that are like your kids! He’s a proud papa of an alien, so he’ll talk about being a dad (mom?) as much as anyone else, especially as a single parent.

CR YOU CAN PROVIDE: Support - He’s surprisingly good at talking stuff out, and will call out the (sometimes painfully) obvious stuff, whether you want to hear it or not.
Reminiscing about home – He doesn’t mind talking/asking about where you all come from and why you’re doing what you’re doing.
Negative – Tucker is really, really good at getting on people’s last nerve, through his attitude, his pick-up lines, and calling people out. He’s also really good at forgiving/getting over shit, so it doesn’t have to stay negative either.

INTRO: I am a graphic designer at a small ad agency and a giant nerd. I have two cats and a roommate. In addition to the zombies, I love Star Trek and Star Wars, 80s movies, old sitcoms, and assorted crap. I've been out of games for a while after a major burnout and am trying to find my groove back here still. I plurk a bunch of RL nonsense and random stuff so you're forewarned if you were thinking of adding me there.

CHARACTER NAME: Morgan Jones
CHARACTER A/S/L: 40s / M / Barrayar

CHARACTER INTRO:
Morgan is a very damaged man and it's very difficult to cover his entire arc sufficiently here. So I won't.
The short version is that he lost his wife and his son in the zombie walker apocalypse, blames himself, suffered a massive breakdown in which he turned increasingly violent, and was eventually pulled through his trauma by a forensic psychologist who taught him aikido and bestowed upon him his current pacifist philosophy. He now uses that to keep himself grounded and move forward - by making up for his past. He's suffered a setback shortly before arriving here, having had to take one life to save another, and is now sort of fumbling through with his philosophy but doing his best to hang onto it and keep his grasp on the present and himself stable. Certainly that will go fine here.
He's kind, gentle, caring, particularly paternal, reticent and quiet generally. He does have a sense of humor, but it's understated. He does have a temper - it's extremely dangerous because anger is what undermines his stability, so it's what he focuses most on keeping in check. Exception to his quiet: If you are doing something that conflicts with his beliefs, he will tell you.

STATUS: You know, not great. He's needed where he was, this war isn't his, he can't abide violence at all, he's deeply shaken by his being here, and people have died on his watch in medical. He's not quite on the verge of losing himself, but he's fighting hard internally. He can be found practicing his forms with increasing frequency. It's a form of therapy and while he always does them regularly, the more often he does them, the more he feels he needs to.

CR YOU WANT: I really do want everything. Negative or even just tense CR is fine, and likely given his beliefs here. I'd love for him to make some deep connections with others, but those are difficult for him to forge. He's not likely to talk about his losses or where he's come from in great detail. He definitely needs some people he can grow to trust, though. Those who are likely to pick up on the conflict below the surface are absolutely welcome. And, of course, he's still very much a father, even having lost his own son. He's likely to be paternal toward younger characters, but it's very dangerous for him. Given the nature of his losses, anything happening to a character he feels that way toward can easily cause a regressive episode.

CR YOU CAN PROVIDE: Well, sort of covered that he's very paternal and protective - but it's also dangerous. Back home, he was teaching aikido to some younger survivors and would not be averse to doing so here if it was asked of him. He's not a leader, and doesn't want to be, but he will readily provide a voice to advocate for nonviolence whether you want one or not. I don't know, though, I really am open to everything. He just got here, so.

i'd love for them to hang out more! wash is also pretty slow to trust and open up so they could both idk respect each other's boundaries and spend time being quiet at each other idk. wash has also been through some shit and became increasingly violent, and now spends his life trying to make up for all the shit he's done while also never forgiving himself. he also trains as a form of therapy, among other things. he's also literally a soldier and addresses most of his problems through violence, which might make for interesting conflict, wash could certainly appreciate someone who stands very opposed to him who is amiable regardless.

CHARACTER A/S/L: 32 / m / Barrayar

CHARACTER INTRO: William used to be the kind of guy you could meet on three separate occasions and still not remember. Ambitious, but accustomed to setting aside what he really thought, what he really wanted, in the name of getting ahead. Then he was dragged on vacation to a sprawling Wild West theme park populated with robots, where he discovered his backbone and also that he's not too bad at killing (robot) people.
STATUS: God, he's laboring under a bunch of delusions. Uh, he thinks a lot of you (well, the natives, so mostly NPCs AND DARYL DIXON) are robots! He thinks he can't get seriously injured, which I would like to change as soon as he stops having amazing luck with dice rolls. He's not super invested in this whole war deal—he has zero loyalty to either side, since he thinks it's just a pretext for shit happening—and tends to take missions that allow him to explore the planet or gather intel. His primary (a word which here means “all-consuming”) drive is to find a woman he was separated from in Westworld WHO IS OBVIOUSLY NOT HERE but you try telling him that.

He did not make any attempt to help the sick this month (though it sort of bothered him). He was on the failed Vorkosigan Vashnoi mission but didn't take the failure particularly hard—he's more concerned with what'll happen next.

CR YOU WANT:
- William's at his most interesting when people push him—he will push back, but he's also at a point where the right person could either encourage and exploit his ruthless streak or, on the other hand, force him to deal with the consequences of being indifferent toward/harming/killing others. SO. Anyone with a strong belief system—even if it's a terrible belief system!—would be great. (I would kill for him to end up with a great and/or terrible mentor tbh.)
- Or if your character is just a dick, that'd be great too.
- Big-picture thinkers. William is, uh, obsessed with meaning and convinced that the two clashing armies are just a backdrop for something larger. Whether your character agrees or disagrees, anyone inclined to think about/debate this sort of thing would be A++.

CR YOU CAN PROVIDE:
- Are you on the Ceta side and worried about Barrayarans distrusting/fighting/judging you? WILLIAM WILL DO NONE OF THESE THINGS BECAUSE HE DOESN'T CARE (I mean, unless you try to stab him or something). This could turn into working together or taking advantage of William's indifference to gain information about Barrayar or just being pals, I'm up for all of it.
- If your character is the type to want to just fuck off and explore, they have something in common with William! LET'S GO ON AN ADVENTURE.
- Also he's a novice at everything (except...tech hahahahahaha what an excellent skill to have on Barrayar) and generally eager to learn, so if you want a student who is pretty serious-minded and has a reckless disregard for his own safety HERE YOU GO.

I USUALLY DO NOT POST TO THESE but I'm just putting a comment here if you want to request any specific CR with the NPCs. I play Piotr, Sonia, Negri, Diya, and Amai, as well as Sonia's slightly hapless bodyguard Gavalas and, debuting April I, Haut Sei. Most of you guys are familiar with the NPCs already, but here's a brief summary of what each can offer (though it is hardly exhaustive):

PIOTR: he's a huge hardass and cares only about Winning because if he cares about anything else they'll never win the war; he's deeply patriotic, has a strong sense of honor, and he can be ethically questionable and kind of a huge dick, but he's an excellent commander and strategist. If your character needs structure or leadership, Piotr can provide it; by turns, if you want someone to argue the ethics of leaving dead body parts in the enemy camp with, by all means, pick a fight with Piotr. He's pretty stubborn, but he isn't immune to reason, especially when it benefits their situation. For instance, he's finally starting to get over his extremely Barrayaran bullshit hangups about lady soldiers.

SONIA: everyone's favorite chipper bubble of temperamental sunshine. Sonia is about the opposite of Piotr: warm and friendly, and abhors violence. She's been intensely lonely for the last ten years, with only her sister for a friend, so she is SUPER KEEN on making friends with just about everyone she can. She's big on pranks and fun, and man, can she throw an adult tantrum like nobody else. She also has the apparent superpower of melting right through the hardened exteriors of Tough Guys and assholes, so if that's something you want for your character, step the fuck up. She's also a massive flirt, if that's the kind of CR you're looking for.

NEGRI: This tiny feral child adopted by Ezar is unnervingly quiet and an uncannily good spy at the age of eight. He habitually eavesdrops on everything he can in camp and reports back to Ezar, who may or may not report the entirety of it back to Piotr. He's extremely self-sufficient, but if you want CR with a kid who would win a staring contest with a rock, he is here to make you uncomfortable and suspicious. Or trigger a mother hen complex, because as far as anyone can tell, he has no family.

DIYA: Diya has served as the poster villain for the exotics, being the easiest target for their fears and frustrations, though it's been recently revealed that (gasp) she has feelings and some tragic gay drama going on with Sei. She's terrifyingly ambitious and bitter about her culling from the haut, though not quite as ruthless as most people tend to view her. She's great for being unnerving and enigmatic and negative CR, but if you're interested in melting the ice queen's heart, that'll take you on a CR rollercoaster. She's also a good person to spy on/wriggle information out of (though difficult) for you informant types.

AMAI: Amai is just as ambitious though in a different way, fervently dedicated to her career in an attempt to elevate herself out of the oh-so-gauche family business of plumbing. She's about as haughty and condescending as you'd expect of a brilliant young Cetagandan genius, but unlike Diya, she is actually inclined to be warm and friendly with people. Great for both positive and negative CR, Amai can be egregiously catty or bring you into her fold depending on how she likes you, and her ego is also much more susceptible to manipulation. Another, easier source of information (though less reliable and detailed as Diya) as well as someone to learn arts training from.

GAVALAS: Gavalas is a good man with an exhausting job. He is very affable, though generally unintrusive (and easily drowned out by Sonia's loud personality), and very approachable. He's more a harried babysitter than a bodyguard, but in the fondest way. He's a more positive source of dad-ish CR than Piotr. He's a more positive source of anything than Piotr, really.

HAUT SEI: the Handmaiden of the Star Crèche, which is a fancy name for "second-hand to the Empress who is also in charge of the genome project", and apparently (and secretly), Diya's ex-lover. Possibly even more dangerous in ambition than Diya herself, though she comes off as more genteel. If your character has concerns or other negative feelings about Diya and wants some form of authority to turn to (or share Diya's illicit activities with), Sei is your haut lady. She's also excellent for shedding more contextual light on Cetagandan society and just what haut are like, and how Diya is no longer really considered haut; plus dragging people into secretive, manipulative plots.

CHARACTER NAME: Kurt Ambrose
CHARACTER A/S/L: 41 / Male / Ceta
CHARACTER INTRO: Kurt hails from the Halo universe and is a Spartan-II. He was kidnapped by the government and indoctrinated in the bootcamp from Hell that created the true hero of the franchise, Master Chief. Unlike the Chief though, he was shanghaied yet again and smuggled off to some hidden planet to train the next iteration of Spartan-III’s. What does this mean? He’s a career soldier with an obscene amount of training under his belt and a soft spot for kids. Kurt also has dabbled into some truly shady shit and has sort of gone off the reservation but everything he’s done, he does because he cares about his Spartans and humanity as a whole.
STATUS: Kurt is brand spanking new and is still getting his feet under him. He doesn’t trust the Ceta as far as he can throw them with his pinky but he’s pretty focused on getting home. He’s settling in with the other exotics and trying to navigate all these new and unsettling events he’s gone through lately such as the loss of his augmentations and trying to learn how to be a regular human again. Spoilers: it’s not working too hot for him.
CR YOU WANT: I know it’s a cop-out but I really do want all of it. My hope in game is for him to realize just how shady the Ceta is so people who can school him in their shady bullshit gimme. I’m totally down for negative CR or having your character hate him. He’s sort of hard to goad into a fight because he’s spent his entire life knowing he could accidentally kill someone if he started brawling and he’s got self-control for days but feel free to hate on him. Alternately I would love for him to go about making semi-awkward allies with people. If he does decide the Ceta are complete shitbags, I’d love for him to start gaining CR with Barry side peeps. Right now, I don’t have a firm plan for how I want him to end up but for now, I’m just interested in building up his CR so please don’t hesitate to hit me up.
CR YOU CAN PROVIDE: If you’re looking for CR with a former child-soldier turned walking talking war-crimes then Kurt is your dude. If you also want to talk with a dude whose seen some shit and can hold his own in a fight, come at me bro. He works well with fellow warrior-types however if you want complete fish out of water and trying to awkwardly understand the civilian mindset and how to human, then he’s your boy. Kurt is unusually sociable for Spartans who tend to register on the mildly psychopathic and exclusionary to non-Spartan mindset but he’s still a Spartan and a lifetime spent at war means he doesn’t hesitate to train six year old war orphans to become living cannon fodder for the war effort. His moral compass does not point firmly north so I would love for that very morally dissonant mindset clash with the civilian mindset. So yeah, gimme everything, I am greedy and want it all.

CHARACTER A/S/L: 5.5 million years / ???? (physically male at the moment) / barely made it to the Barrayarran camp
CHARACTER INTRO: Think Hawkeye from M*A*S*H but also literally an ambulance. He's grumpy and tired and he doesn't know exactly how 'enough rest' works yet but his first priority is his patients. Actually his first six priorities are his patients, and then maybe eating makes the list. He's not great at this.
STATUS: He just escaped the Cetagandan base with York and managed not to die wandering around in the woods, but he's still adjusting to the meatsack he's been crammed into since he got here. And by 'adjusting' I mean 'working until he basically passes out, then getting up and doing it again.' Again, not great at this.
