INTRO: Gosh, there's not too much to know. I am a GIANT Marvel comics nerd, so there are occasional comics spoilers, Nat is my favorite and I've been playing her in some form for about a decade and I have A Lot of Feelings about her. I just found Dreamwidth at the end of May, so if I screw anything up just lmk. I'm a huge nerd, I casually collect the Marvel Funkos, and BuckyNat is my forever ship in the whole world.
CHARACTER NAME: Natasha Romanoff
CHARACTER A/S/L: 76 / F / Ceta
CHARACTER INTRO: So just as an FYI I do pull some stuff from the comics, and I am always willing to tldr if anyone is interested. I also have a headcanon history written up that fills in the gaps between the Red Room and SHIELD, for anyone curious. But, Natasha was a brainwashed and enhanced child-assassin turned into a grown-up assassin, who became one half of a spec ops team, then a superhero, and then realized that the organization she was working for was not-so-different than the bad people she'd grown up working for. And then just as she finally decides to jump back into the whole heroics and trying to believe she belongs... she ends up here. She's a superspy, former soldier, hasn't aged in about fifty years, misses her friends and is still silently struggling to figure out where she fits in, and what that means for who she is. Ending up on an alien world has actually not helped her figure that out. Once she adjusts, she's got a streak of humor, enjoys teasing people, friendly competition, and can be prone to playing matchmaker as a savvy way of trolling people. She is also still a badass and can dance like no-one's business.
STATUS: Natasha is internally a cornered alleycat but she hides it well behind social graces and practiced smiles. That said, anyone who stumbles across her in the gym might recognize the signs of a person who is a bit more strained than she's pretending. She is not taking this whole not being as capable as she's used to thing particularly well. She'll adapt, adjust, it's what she does, but she's certainly not happy about it. She also has very specific emotional association with black roses which is of course what she got put in for the party. So that's fun and totally okay. Yepp. Also really dislikes not having weapons.
CR YOU WANT:
+ People that can see through her THISISFINE.GIF thing. People who are better with feelings than she is, or people familiar with what compartmentalizing looks like. People who might get her to chill the fuck out / remind her that Food Is Good. Other people that hang out in the gym / sparring friends, soldier/spy friends. Talk to her about the Cetagandans, share information, tell her about your world, smart people friends? She doesn't get enough chances to be into science and tech stuff. Possible commiseration with anyone else missing close friends? She's not the best at opening up on her own, but she does seem to be willing to use it to connect to people, though clearly has trouble with emotionally connecting herself. Trust and feelings are hard?
CR YOU CAN PROVIDE:
+ At the moment, she has sort of a short temper and is very much Pushing Herself Too Far while generally trying to keep a smile on her face so if you want irritable with occasional demonstrations of the ability to go from tense to seamless and pleasant in a literal blink of an eye, she can do that. She is a great sneaky-spy friend. She can Teach People Things, and is willing to learn from Other People who Know Stuff. She knows a mess of languages, several fighting styles, is very tech savvy and smarter than most people take her for. On good days, or just with people she starts to get familiar with, her sense of humor will start to show through, so teasing, bad jokes, pop culture references, annoying messages with smiley faces are bonus prizes. Semi-philosophical discussions about things like guilt and identity can happen. If you want a friend with war stories to trade, or alternately stories about being Big Damn Heroes stopping an alien invasion, she can do that too.
+ In her own words: "who do you want me to be?"
