Hey all and welcome to For Barrayar! We'll be getting the OOC info/signups post for the first half of March's plot up soon, as well as the March Game Update (which details the weather and each side's status and resources for the month), but in the meantime, please feel free to introduce yourselves and get your mingle on! Tell us about yourselves, what you're looking forward to and what you're hoping to do in this game, and just generally get down and friendly with each other. And if you haven't joined the Discord server and would like to, hop on in.

If you haven't had a chance to look at the culture pages and want some extra reading material, those go into more depth about the Barrayarans and the Cetagandans. The March I log will probably go up on the 2nd due to time constraints because February was a short month and I unfortunately have a day job.

Also, please note the tagging system -- all of your characters should already have tags (and if they're missing, please let me know), and there are also location tags for the guerilla camp and the Cetagandan base, so please use those for your logs too!

Hello everyone! My name is Hanna, and I'm bringing Lucy Preston from the TV series Timeless to the game!

I've joined the discord chat but I've never used Discord before so pardon me while I stumble around figuring it out for a while.

Lucy is a historian who found out time travel is real and then she had to chase a dude around to try and keep him from wreaking havoc on history and her life has gotten really messy since. She is not very well suited to being in a war zone, but this actually won't be the first time she has to figure out how to survive in one anyway.

I am very open to all manner of shenanigans and am looking forward to playing with everyone!

Hi, all! I'm El and I'm bringing in Kurt-051 from the Halo series. He's pretty much an ex-child soldier who was brainwashed and kidnapped by the military to become the perfect soldier humanity could produce. Then he got kidnapped into yet another government black bag op and has spent the last twenty years raising NEW crops of brainwashed child-soldiers for a war against an alien race bent on humanity's destruction.

He's TOTALLY a good guy. Yeah. Absolutely. Look, it's complicated. He's going to be a complete fish out of water on the Ceta side because he can barely human much less handle things like super deep cultural appreciation for the arts. I'm totally looking forward to this ridiculousness.

Hello hello! I'm Farli, and I'm super excited to be here! I'll be playing Vex'ahlia, the haggling Half-Elf ranger from Critical Role, played by the lovely Laura Bailey as part of a live streamed d&d game featuring a bunch of nerdyass voice actors.



Nabbed while in pursuit of the last surviving member of a group responsible for the deaths of a party member's family, she's a twin without her twin, as well as being a ranger without her beloved bear-son, Trinket, and she'll be dearly missing her fellow members of Vox Machina. (For those familiar with the show, that's half way through episode 67.)

The high fantasy ranger will be staying with the Cetas, and more than a little unfamiliar with the technology on hand! She also can't actually speak any of the local languages - but, curiously enough, the language she knows as Common sounds close enough to English that she'll manage to get by. Probably...

Hiiiiiii there. My name's Rae, and I'm bringing this gentleman here whose name is Morgan Jones. He's from a dumb zombie drama called The Walking Dead, and he himself is a devoted pacifist practicing aikido.

This is, naturally, why he's with the Barrayarans. Should be some funsies - I have no doubt he'll be fine with everything going on here. I'm bringing him in from shortly after his arrival at a lovely perpetual Ren Faire community known simply as The Kingdom, which is honestly too bad because he was just chilling with a dude who has a tiger.

Hi y'all I am Alex and this (gesturing towards imaginary person) is Nash. He is a from an abandoned series of games called Suikoden. I usually describe him as an unlikely combination of James Bond and Bella Swan. Nash is an ex-aristocrat and current spy working for a militant theocratic JRPG Russian analogue. He's used to: bad weather, war, moral ambiguities, and having to sleep outside. He is not used to: space, technology more advanced than gunpowder, language barriers (???), and a lack of wandering monsters that mysteriously carry currency.

Nash is going to be with Barrayar, where he will try to make himself useful, or alternatively: not.

Hey hey hey! My name's Shelly and I am rolling out the worst of all Autobots from the epic comic verse of Transformers...Whirl! '

The entire war is BASICALLY his fault ( if you completely ignore other people having agency in their own decisions, but Whirl hasn't figured out how this whole "Guilt" thing works yet.) and he is basically a giant murdercopter with claws for hands and one huge eye for a head because the old government thought mutilation was a happy fun time party.

Whirl has an epic tragic backstory and is a closet nerd in a lot of ways and is on the Cetaganda side which means I get to play with those tendencies.

Like the other robots, Whirl is being tossed into a lovely human body who despite being massively scarred and having barely functional hands will still be a step up from before. (HAVING! A! MOUTH! is a big +1 to this body okay. ) Whirl's human body is basically a more scarred up version of Gaia Weiss who is probably going to be drunk most of the time. Someone get Whirl a replacement liver for this eventuality.

Hi guys! I’m Tev and I’m bringing Tarn in from the Transformers IDW continuity to the game. Tarn is basically a horrendous jingoistic shitbeast with a taste for the finer things in life and a trained hand for torture and murder. Typically he’s a 30 foot robot, but he’s been humanized into a completely average human flesh vessel which he hates.

Tarn’s been placed on the Cetagandan side where he will probably spend his days languishing in a drug induced haze and hating his life while trying to start fights with nearly everyone.
