Hey all and welcome to For Barrayar! We'll be getting the OOC info/signups post for the first half of February's plot up soon, as well as the February Game Update (which details the weather and each side's status and resources for the month), but in the meantime, please feel free to introduce yourselves and get your mingle on! Tell us about yourselves, what you're looking forward to and what you're hoping to do in this game, and just generally get down and friendly with each other. And if you haven't joined the Discord server and would like to, hop on in.

The February I log will go up on the 1st. And if you haven't had a chance to look at the culture pages and want some extra reading material, those go into more depth about the Barrayarans and the Cetagandans.
ETA: The log will probably go up on the 2nd due to time constraints because the OOC post went up late and I unfortunately have a day job.

Also, please note the tagging system -- all of your characters should already have tags (and if they're missing, please let me know), and there are also location tags for the guerilla camp and the Cetagandan base, so please use those for your logs too!

Hello, everyone! My name is Vee, and I'll be bringing in Tucker, another one of those colorful space marine Red vs Blue types. Only he's, you know, waaaay less dramatic and less effective than his Freelancer counterparts. Tucker is also ridiculously inappropriate, sarcastic, hits on anything with a heartbeat, likes to talk up his own skills, and is the single father-mother to one completely awesome alien son.

Yeah, he's a little different than the rest of them. But he's got a good heart, he's loyal to his friends, and one perceptive little s.o.b.. So, if you can tolerate the rest of the mess that he is, he's not bad to have around, although probably in small doses.

The best way to reach me is probably on plurk, veelynn, or by PM. I'm so happy to be here and I've been looking forward to this all month, you have no idea! Thank you so much for including me, and I hope we can all have some amazing threads together!

My name is Em, and I'm bringing Sans, that skeleton from Undertale who's so popular with the kids. He's a weird bone man who now has a bunch of flesh on him. Gross. He could not be further from human in his regular form, so it'll be fun having to learn the ropes of, y'know. Breathing! To live! Who does that??

Sans is your average lazy, mysterious dude with Secrets. Though without his magic and with his new body, he's gonna be a little more fumbling than usual. One thing he's holding onto is a genuine love of science! Not to mention some experience with the whole Worldhopping thing, as he's a CRAU from thisavrou. I detail a few development quirks in his app, which you're welcome to look through! It's honestly not that much. Last thing he remembers, he was on a small space ship, trying to figure out how to get home to his brother. Now he's here. But this guy's used to negative progress it's cool.

He'll be on the Cetaganda side, so I'm really excited to get to know everyone both there and on Barrayar! Feel free to add me on safelybeds, that is if I don't get to you first...!

For reference: Upon arrival, Sans looks like this now. Your basic human, except with black sclera and white pupils! He's also got a crummy immune system and a bad sense of humor, so instead of actually showing his face you're usually gonna find him wearing one of these. He drew the smile on himself.

HELLO people! I'm Jamie, and I'll be bringing in Natasha Romanoff from the Marvel Movies. She's going to be coming in from post-Winter Soldier, pre-Age of Ultron, specifically in the middle of a raid on a Hydra base, because the idea of her being dropped from one battle into a totally different war amuses me. For the canon unfamiliar, she is a genetically modified spy/soldier who has done some Bad Things for Bad People but recently found out that her defection to the good guys were just different bad guys.

She's still processing that and in general is not... particularly thrilled.

She is Cetagandan, but will likely not be super pleased with them, especially once she finds out about the Ba. So that will be interesting. She'll likely be playing all the angles, and possibly making some friends in the process? People who remind her of friends from home are slightly more likely to get past her sometimes-prickly exterior.

But, yes, this game looks like a lot of fun and I'm glad to throw Nat in here! Feel free to poke me~ natalia_vdova or at natalia_vdova#0150 on Discord.

Hello! My name is Alice and I'm bringing in Deanna Troi from Star Trek: The Next Generation! For those who are not canon familiar, Deanna is half-human, half-alien - specifically, Betazoid. Betazoids are not too different from humans in appearance, save for their black irises, but they are a telepathic race. Deanna is not a full telepath, but she is an empath. However, for the time being, this ability is capped... which means she will not be a happy camper. For her, it's not a power, it's a sense like sight or hearing or touch, so she will be much more snippy than usual.

Deanna is a psychologist and diplomatic advisor on the Enterprise, so it should be interesting to see how she gets along with her new home with the Cetagandans. Their tech will definitely be familiar to her but their philosophy... not so much.

HI I'M CAROLYN and I'll be bringing William from Westworld to the Barrayar...an (that's so many As)(and I have been drinking) side of this fine mess.

William's been yanked out of really fucking strange vacation at a robot cowboy theme park where he could pretty much do whatever he wanted and was incapable of being hurt. For at least a little while, he'll suspect this is more of the same, and is liable to treat everything like a game. (Which isn't to say he won't be serious HE IS PRETTY SERIOUS ABOUT GAMES.)

He's a normal human from a nebulous future setting whose only real experience fighting for survival is in aforementioned theme park, but he's pretty quick on the uptake and very trainable.

Also he has a robot girlfriend.

She's going to be with Cetaganda, which is appropriate because she was literally made to fight as part of an invading military force on a technologically-less-advanced resisting planet! She is not going to see anything wrong with what is happening here except for the fact that from her perspective the Cetagandans are being inefficient about it. (Just nuke 'em from orbit and then do what you want with their planet! It's not even a good planet tho honestly???)

She is like eight feet tall and bright orange and her nose is a rock, but she doesn't have any special powers except for, like, pro looming. She is also super beefy but she doesn't understand the concept of working out because buff gems are born buff and then stay buff forever, so someone is going to have to teach her how it works for humans if she wants to stay STRONG

Hey, hey! My name is Sam and I'm bringing Ratchet from a game you assumed no one played from and guess what they shouldn't aka Ratchet & Clank. He's normally a weird alien, who just really. Is tired of this shit, and wants to talk to people about spaceships and not fight in a strange war BUT HERE WE ARE. Not to mention dealing with the fact that he's suddenly human. [humorous statement about how weird that's gonna be] He's on the Barrayar side, but I want to get CR with everyone if I can!

Ratchet is a CRAU from thisavrou, and he was piloting a smallcraft through space before winding up here. He also has CRAU memories from CDC, the game I pulled him from into Savrou. I'm basically a CRAU nesting doll. All this means is he's cranky, sick of humans being racist and doesn't trust whoever's in charge.

Hi, I'm Diya (not to be confused with that NPC Diya, who is an impostor and will be dealt with appropriately) and I brought you an Overwatch. This is Satya Vaswani, better known as Symmetra.

For those not familiar with the character/canon, the world of Overwatch is reeling from a war of its own. Symmetra is part of an organization called Vishkar that uses hard-light technology to construct cities for the displaced population. Of course, to keep those cities under control, Vishkar enforces strict control over the population, but what's a little freedom for security and comfort, right?

(And when I said Symmetra is 'part of' this group, what I mean is she was scooped up out of the slums as a kid by them, raised to believe everything they do is right, and pretty much owes everything she now has to them. Sooooooo she might be a bit biased.)

She's on the side of the Cetagandans, and let me tell you she's pleased as punch about that. Clearly, this noble empire has only the best of intentions for these ruffians hiding in the woods, and if they need assistance in bringing order to this world, that's totally in line with her own indoctrination philosophies.
