Hey all and welcome to For Barrayar! We'll be getting the OOC info/signups post for the first half of February's plot up soon, as well as the February Game Update (which details the weather and each side's status and resources for the month), but in the meantime, please feel free to introduce yourselves and get your mingle on! Tell us about yourselves, what you're looking forward to and what you're hoping to do in this game, and just generally get down and friendly with each other. And if you haven't joined the Discord server and would like to, hop on in.

The February I log will go up on the 1st. And if you haven't had a chance to look at the culture pages and want some extra reading material, those go into more depth about the Barrayarans and the Cetagandans.
ETA: The log will probably go up on the 2nd due to time constraints because the OOC post went up late and I unfortunately have a day job.

Also, please note the tagging system -- all of your characters should already have tags (and if they're missing, please let me know), and there are also location tags for the guerilla camp and the Cetagandan base, so please use those for your logs too!

HELLO people! I'm Jamie, and I'll be bringing in Natasha Romanoff from the Marvel Movies. She's going to be coming in from post-Winter Soldier, pre-Age of Ultron, specifically in the middle of a raid on a Hydra base, because the idea of her being dropped from one battle into a totally different war amuses me. For the canon unfamiliar, she is a genetically modified spy/soldier who has done some Bad Things for Bad People but recently found out that her defection to the good guys were just different bad guys.

She's still processing that and in general is not... particularly thrilled.

She is Cetagandan, but will likely not be super pleased with them, especially once she finds out about the Ba. So that will be interesting. She'll likely be playing all the angles, and possibly making some friends in the process? People who remind her of friends from home are slightly more likely to get past her sometimes-prickly exterior.

But, yes, this game looks like a lot of fun and I'm glad to throw Nat in here! Feel free to poke me~

Hell yeah, another Ceta who's gonna be super side-eye and judgey about it! Tho unlike my guy, Natasha seems like she's actually going to do something about it, which is extra good.

Yes, Nat is very much in the Let's Do Things camp, so there will definitely be hijinks in that regard! She might even try and prod some of the other characters depending on how situations unfold.

I'm totally canonblind when it comes to Undertale, but I figure they might be interesting regardless! :D Equally thrilled!

All you really need to know is Sans is a lump who hates doing things and loves giving up ~~until he doesn't~~. This is gonna be fun! I'm all about hijinks, my dude.

Hey, giving up never got anyone anywhere. He needs some motivation. Maybe she can help, though she's gonna be pretty annoyed when she realizes that she's just not as cool as she's used to.

Hello Jamie and welcome! I'm Jenni and I play Elsa Mars from American Horror Story, she's on Barry's side but that doesn't mean I'm not excited to see this Russia spy's adventures.

Thank you! I'm so glad to be here! I only watched the first season of AHS so I don't think I ever saw Elsa, but! Maybe they can eventually run into one another.

There's a chance she might end up defecting depending on how things go, SO maybe they'll get to hang out sometime down the road, who knows. :D

Me either! I know RvB so I am super amused to see how they get along. I could almost see him reminding her a touch of Clint. But man, she is both going to be not pleased to find out the Cetagandans are the invaders, and also their whole genetics thing will eventually make her want to punch some people. XD

But York! I'm so excited someone plays him, he's such a good. :>

He's still going through a really hard time after losing Delta (and finding out that Maine is on Barrayar) but it's getting better! He is such a good. ;o;

The fact that Cetaganda are the invaders isn't sitting well with... most of Ceta tbh.

Aweh, poor York. Glad he's getting better! Delta was so cute. ;-; But, yeah, Nat's going to be a bit grumpy about being not as much of a bamf here and being cut off from her friends, so.

Tbh even looking at what you learn in the first day stuff, Nat is going to hear "warped their society into something barbaric and self-destructive" and probably be all "oh, this is political spin, right then".

HELLOOOO, I'm Hope! I'm super pumped to have a Natasha in this game because she is LOVELY, plus we need more actual Russians up in these space Russians. So welcome! This guy here is also a spy, so if we end up having the chance I'd love some spy-bonding some day.

Hi! I'm so pleased to meet everyone! And yes, Nat is supergreat even if she spends a lot of time pretending otherwise. She is a horrible polyglot, but she will eventually be v pleased to find some people to speak Russian with, tbh.

Man, spy-bondng would be awesome. She's missing her spy partner here, so meeting other spies eventually would be A+.

Hi there! I'm Wyn, playing Kaidan Alenko, a space marine techie-type from the Mass Effect games. He's on the Ceta side and is currently involved in quietly trying to sneak around and eavesdrop on them when not trying more social ways of getting information.

That was my feeling, too. ;)

Hiya! Ahhh, I love Kaidan! My ME romance 5eva. funny you should mention eavesdropping because I totally just signed Nat up for that. XD But they should definitely run into one another while trying to chat people up and be savvy information-gatherers.

Maybe they can talk tech stuff sometime or some other hijinks. :>

There is nothing you have suggested that I do not love. (And I totally Kaidanmanced on this guy's playthrough, with an Infiltrator Shep. :P)

Awesome. And man I loved playing Infiltrator. Although I'll confess that tossing people / robots / everything into the air was my favorite combat tactic in the series, ngl.

But I am so jazzed for things! Maybe they could even run into each other in the discernment garden or something. I want Nat to get into all the hijinks.

Welcome to the game! I'm Dove, and I play Beth from The Walking Dead. They're on opposite sides of the conflict, but maybe they'll run across each other on pvp adventures.

ok like i am so sad that natasha is on the other side because i have wanted cr with a natasha for ages BUT. i am pleased to see her in the game regardless! can't wait to see what she gets up to.

I am too because I have also wanted to toss Nat and Maine together Some Day. BUT odds are she'll eventually wanna punch some of the Ceta and migrate, depending on how things go with the other Ceta kids. There's also missions, so maybe some day the stars will align and we can do this :D

Either way I'm glad to be here!! She'll just have to chat up York and Wash instead. ;)

Lady Diya's going to be very interested in Natasha's altered biochemistry, also, with how perceptive Natasha is of people I think that'll be very interesting because most of what people see of Diya is about five layers of facade and front

Okay, so, awkward question time! Is her PB Ming-Na Wen? Cause. She totally plays a SHIELD agent that I verry much think Nat was friends with from one of the MCU TV shows. So that could.. be hilarious in a "you kind of remind me of one of my friends" sort of way. XD

But yes, come poke at Nat and her weird biochemistry, and she will probably consider Diya to be the most interesting puzzle in this place. (People are more interesting than wormholes)

YES her PB is Ming-Na Wen! And yeah, I've seen some of AoS! Ofc since it's a PB deal, she doesn't look exactly like Melinda May -- the haut are genetically designed to be preternaturally beautiful (through several centuries of genomic refinement). Not that Ming-Na Wen isn't already a babe, but the haut consider themselves works of art just as much as anything else they do, and the haut are very Extra. Haut women also never cut her hair, so Lady Diya's hair is EXTREMELY long, but she tends to wear it up so it doesn't get in the way.

THAT SAID, feel free to have her remind Nat of May -- it's just not quite that level of face twin-ery.

And yes, Diya definitely is a puzzle here, and by all means try to decontruct her, Nat :B

Oh, yeah, that's usually how I play it anyway, tbh, so the Haut being super Extra just makes it that much moreso. I'm not sure she'd even comment on it so much as headtilt and have Feelings she tries to ignore having, LIKE YOU DO.

She will happily and gladly do so. She's gonna want to learn ALL about the Cedagandans, and probably start adopting things as she picks things up, because that's what she does. :D
